My name is Rebecca Allen and I have been teaching yoga full time for 19 years in London, Somerset and now Sheffield.
I teach 6 weekly small group classes in our attic yoga studio in Stainton Road, Sheffield, S11. I offer classes for people of all ages and with a variety of needs. (Timetable of classes.)
There are general yoga classes at all levels and extra gentle yoga classes for people living with cancer and yoga for ME or chronic fatigue, or for those who are less physically able but still want to progress with their yoga practice. There is also a Healthy Lower Backs 12 week course specifically targeting lower back pain.
I also run Sunday morning workshops and I can provide 1:1 classes and half or full day workshops and take a group of people to Spain each May for a yoga and walking holiday
Apart from the Healthy Lower Backs course, the yoga I teach is a traditional style of Classical Hatha Yoga. The classes all include asana (postures), pranayama (breathing practices), and yoga nidra (deep relaxation). As classes progress mudras (gestures), bandhas (locks) and meditation techniques are introduced. I am qualified with The Bihar School of Yoga (Satyananda Yoga) and the British Wheel. I also have further specialist training for teaching antenatal and postnatal yoga and for teaching people with ME and people living with cancer.
The Healthy Lower Backs course is taught differently. It is a very focussed pragmatic approach for lower back problems and alleviating pain. It caters for complete beginners and people who are experienced in yoga but are not comfortable in a general yoga class. It is an excellent introduction to yoga and is suitable for people who have occasional back pain or a chronic (long term) back condition. It is also helpful for people with shoulder problems too.
Whether you have never done yoga before or are already very experienced, whether you are already fit and active or need an extra gentle class for now, please contact me to discuss your needs.
